| Kapitan Kidlat, a creation of Atty. Leonardo P. Abutin, was a very popular radio program which was later made into movies in the Philippines like "Kapitan Kidlat" &"Kidlat Ngayon" of 1950's and the 1980's Kapitan Kidlat. A TV series was also shown in the Philippines depicting the original character created by Atty. Abutin. Lot of influential people in the Philippines took credit in doing their Kapitan Kidlat version. These "highly intellegent" people do not even care about intellectual property. Bottomline is that all these movies/tv series were/are based on the popular radio series created by Atty. Leonardo P. Abutin. We just wish that these people would have the decent to at least give credit to the late Atty. Leonardo P. Abutin. After almost a year in production, Kapitan Kidlat The Movie was finally completed and shown in April 1953 (click here to go to the 1950's movie ad and synopsis webpage). This was the hardest movie ever made at that time because special effects have to be done in a very ingenious ways. For the first time, the Filipino people were able to see their favorite radio superhero in action. Kapitan Kidlat The Movie was a combination of suspense, romance and adventures. Inocencio Santos was a shy and humble man who worked at a police station, until he was granted incredible powers by Zeus, "the Supreme God", to aid the innocent and helpless against criminals. By uttering the phrase "Kidlat Ngayon" or "Kapitan Kidlat Ngayon", he would transform into the heroic Kapitan Kidlat ! |
